Sci-fi is like playing the normal game except that halfway through, alien bugs come out of goddamned nowhere eat your miners. They add absolutely nothing to the game and just make the last fights an endless game of save/reload. The automatic rocket rifles are bad enough - they're almost guaranteed one hit kills unless you interrupt the baddies and drop 'em before they fire.

The reason people go with realistic over sci-fi is that the sci-fi elements of JA really mess with what makes the game so cool.
